Data Archival Specialist / Data Archival Engineer EC, ECP, LMS
Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Archival specialist with hands-on expertise in SAP SuccessFactors modulesEmployee Central (EC), Employee Central Payroll (ECP), and Learning Management System (LMS)to design, implement, and operate compliant archival solutions for HR and learning data. The role focuses on defining retention policies, reducing the footprint of transactional data, ensuring audit readiness, and enabling secure retrieval and purge processes while protecting performance of live SuccessFactors environments and downstream integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end data archival initiatives for EC, ECP, and LMS modules: scope, design, build, test, cutover, and hypercare.
Analyze functional and technical requirements to define archival eligibility rules, retention schedules, and legal holds in alignment with compliance needs.
Design archival data models and extraction logic; ensure referential integrity and business-context preservation across EC/ECP/LMS objects.
Build and tune archival jobs (batch/incremental), including validation controls, reconciliation reports, and exception handling.
Implement purge strategies after successful archive validation; ensure performance improvements on source systems and reduce storage footprint.
Create and maintain retrieval mechanisms (search, restore, reporting) to support audits, investigations, and business continuity.
Conduct data quality checks using SQL: profiling, duplicate detection, orphan record identification, and archival completeness verification.
Collaborate with Security and Governance teams to enforce access controls, encryption, key management, and segregation of duties.
Develop operational runbooks, monitoring/alerting, and SOPs for archival cycles; provide L2/L3 support and RCA for failures.
Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience delivering data archival/data lifecycle management solutions for enterprise applications.
Functional and process understanding of EC, ECP, and LMS modules and their core business objects and data flows.
Strong SQL skills for analysis, validation, reconciliation, and performance tuning of archival workloads.
Understanding of compliance and governance concepts: retention, audit trails, privacy requirements, and data minimization.
Ability to create technical documentation, test evidence, and operational SOPs for regulated environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with archival platforms and information lifecycle management (ILM) tooling and/or content repositories.
Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and scheduling (batch orchestration), and building automated reconciliation reporting.
Exposure to cloud storage and archival tiers, encryption, and key management (KMS) concepts.
Familiarity with ITSM/change management processes and release governance.
