Opportunity for the position of Microbiologist | Location - Chennai (Ambattur)


Brief Job Description:


a. Sample Preparation:

Prepare food samples for microbiological analysis according to established protocols, including aseptic techniques, dilution, and enrichment procedures.

Weigh and homogenize samples as required by specific test methods.

b. Microbiological Analysis:

Conduct a variety of microbiological tests to identify and quantify microorganisms of concern in food products, following established methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Examples of tests may include:Total Plate Count, Coliform and E. coli enumeration,Salmonella and Listeria spp. detection, Yeast and mold enumeration

c. Quality Control and Assurance:

Implement and maintain routine quality control procedures to monitor the accuracy and precision of microbiological tests.

Perform media sterility checks and participate in proficiency testing programs.

Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and maintain a clean and sanitary laboratory environment.

d. Data Analysis and Reporting:

Record and analyze microbiological test results accurately and efficiently.

Prepare clear and concise reports for clients, outlining findings and interpretations.

e. Calibration and Maintenance:

Perform basic calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment used for microbiological testing (e.g., autoclaves, incubators,pipettes, weighing balance etc).

Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the designated supervisor.

f. Documentation and Record Keeping:

Maintain comprehensive and accurate laboratory records, including sample logs, test results, and quality control data, in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements.

Follow established document control procedures for SOPs and other laboratory documentation.

g. Training and Development:

Participate in ongoing training programs to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in food microbiology testing methods and ISO 17025 standards.


Key Results Areas (KRAs) & Key Deliverables:

a) Timely analysis of samples.

b) Complete method valudations including documentation in accordance to regulatory requirements.

c) Accurate reporting of results.

d) Succesful outcome during audits.

5S in the lab and adhere to good lab practices in Microbiology lab
