Job Description
Job Title: Power BI Architect
Experience: 4-15 years
Job Summary: An experienced Power BI Architect to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade business intelligence solutions using Power BI. This role involves architecting data models, building scalable reporting frameworks, and ensuring highquality analytics delivery across the organization. Power BI Architects work closely with business and technical teams to understand requirements, translate them into BI strategies, and create robust dashboards, reports, and semantic data models. They lead data integration efforts, ensure data governance and security, optimize performance, and mentor BI developers to elevate the organizations analytics capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprisegrade Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models.
- Define architectural strategies ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance of BI solutions.
- Build robust semantic data models, including star schemas, relationships, partitions, and DAX calculations.
- Implement data integration and transformation pipelines using Power Query, SQL, ETL tools, and Azure data services.
- Establish and enforce data governance, data validation standards, and security models (row/object-level security).
- Ensure adherence to best practices for modeling, visualization, and performance tuning.
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical BI solutions.
- Partner with engineering, analytics, and business teams to align BI architecture with organizational goals.
- Optimize queries, DAX expressions, refresh strategies, and dataset structures for maximum performance.
- Conduct quality checks, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliability of BI platforms and reports.
- Stay updated on new Power BI features, industry trends, and modern BI practices to recommend improvements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies that can enhance enterprise analytics capabilities.
Required Skills:
- Deep handson experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including report/dashboard design and data modeling.
- Strong command of DAX and Power Query (M language) for building calculations, transformations, and optimized data models.
- Expertise in designing star/snowflake schemas, semantic models, tabular models, and optimizing data structures for analytics performance.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including partitioning, indexing, relationships, and storage modes.
- Ability to define BI architecture standards, implement data governance, ensure data integrity, and enforce security best practices (e.g., rowlevel/objectlevel security).
- Capacity planning, selfservice BI governance, and workspace/dataflow management.
- Skilled in optimizing DAX calculations, refresh strategies, data models, and Power BI capacity performance.
- Experience integrating Power BI with external applications, embedded analytics, APIs, and automation workflows.
- Familiarity with PowerShell, REST APIs, or infrastructure automation is a plus.
- Ability to assess complex data scenarios, troubleshoot BI issues, and design effective analytical solutions.
Preferred Skills:
- Power BI/Fabric Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as Power BI/Fabric Data Analyst.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with big data technologies, such as Hadoop, Spark, or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with data governance, data security, and data compliance
