Job Description
Role & responsibilities
The Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting material testing, ensuring quality control of Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC), and maintaining accurate laboratory records in line with applicable IS standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct testing of raw materials (cement, aggregates, water, admixtures) and concrete as per relevant IS standards.
- Prepare samples for in-house testing as well as for dispatch to third-party laboratories.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and acceptance criteria for all materials used in RMC production.
- Record and maintain all test results accurately in prescribed formats and data sheets.
- Monitor and support batching plant operations, including mix design implementation and adjustments.
- Assist in calibration and maintenance of laboratory and batching plant equipment.
- Maintain proper documentation of:
- Material test reports
- Calibration certificates
- Quality control records
- Coordinate with site engineers and plant teams to ensure consistent product quality.
- Ensure housekeeping and safety standards within the laboratory.
Preferred candidate profile
- Senior Secondary (10+2) from a recognized board (Diploma in Civil Engineering preferred).
- 3-6 years of hands-on experience as a Lab Technician in RMC plants or real estate/construction projects.
Strong knowledge of:
- RMC material testing procedures
- IS codes and standards
- Mix design concepts
- Familiarity with batching plant operations and equipment calibration.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, reporting, and documentation.
- Good attention to detail and record-keeping ability.
