Job Title: Blood Bank Technician

Location: Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad

Job Summary

The Blood Bank Technician at Apollo Hospitals Ahmedabad is responsible for safe and accurate collection, testing, processing, storage, and issuance of blood and blood components, ensuring full compliance with NABH, NACO, Drug & Cosmetics Act, and Apollo quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform blood grouping, Rh typing, crossmatching, and antibody screening
• Conduct TTI screening (HIV, HBsAg, HCV, Malaria, Syphilis) as per guidelines
• Collection, processing, labeling, and storage of whole blood and components (PRBC, FFP, Platelets, Cryo)
• Ensure proper storage temperatures and inventory management of blood units
• Issue blood/components as per physician requisition and hospital protocol
• Maintain accurate records, registers, and LIS documentation
• Assist in blood donation camps and donor screening procedures
• Follow strict infection control, safety, and transfusion protocols
• Handle emergency blood requests and massive transfusion protocols
• Support audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

• DMLT / BSc MLT / Diploma in Blood Bank Technology
• 8 - 12 years experience in a hospital blood bank
• Experience in NABH / NABL preferred
• Freshers with relevant certification may be considered
