Dialysis Technician @ Manipal Hospital

Job Description

1. To prepare the dialysers, for re-use of patients dialysed during the shift.
2. Technicians of the particular shift should prime the dialysers of patients coming during next shifts.
3. To check starting dialysis charts / previous dialysis sheets thoroughly for special instructions.
4. To check any blood samples to be taken, fill up forms and label containers.
5. To arrange for blood in case of transfusion advise.
6. To plan weight loss according to pre-weight / ideal weight and blood pressure.
7. To ensure heparinisation as per the instructions. Maintenance dose to be given at appropriate time.
8. To check history of bleeding or recent procedures before heparinisation. If above history is positive and if there is pericarditis to alter heparinisation schedule accordingly.
9. To record the time of occurrence, treatment given and the response at the time of complication noticed.
10. To record summary of observations of stating and cleaning,
11. To ensure cleaning of water tank and changing of water filter.
12. To keep dialysis unit clean and machines are cleaned regularly.
13. To ensure disinfection of machines everyday as the dialysis procedure ends.
14. Participates in educational programs.
