Senior Technical Writer Job Description
Our fast-growing team is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from our Business and User Experience (UX) Teams to provide well-written technical documentation that supports our Software as a Service (SAAS) business model with an AI-First approach to content generation. We are currently seeking a Technical Writer to join this expanding team on-site. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating cloud-based technical documentation in the form of online manuals and explaining complex information in a clear and concise manner on the documentation platforms and, at times, within the user interface (UI) and AI-generated responses.
The ideal candidate will be part of an end-to-end process that works with all stakeholders to ensure accuracy of product descriptions, process flow diagrams and visual examples provide users the information needed to successfully complete tasks as part of an ideal experience. If you have previous experience as a Technical Writer in the financial or technical industries, we encourage you to apply with your resume and written samples as it pertains to this role.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, organize, write and edit cloud-based procedures and manuals
- Research, develop and document UI designs from our application that aids user in accomplishing tasks
- Produce electronic documentation using Adobe RoboHelp that can be exported to PDF format for users to print hard copy manuals
- Maintain a comprehensive library of financial and technical terminology and documentation with our teams in Herndon, Virginia and Bangalore, India
- Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content that aligns with the layout and taxonomy of the applicationincluding visual aids such as screencasts and screen captures to clearly depict a way for users to accomplish a specified task
- Manage updates and revisions to technical literature (to follow the release schedule)
- Manage updates and revisions to our UX Written Content Guide and Design System
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Journalism, English or Communications
- Proven work experience as a Technical Writer or similar role
- Proficiency in English
- Experience with translation is a plus
- Business Software experience is a plus
- Portfolio writing samples (electronic/online only)
- Knowledge of Adobe RoboHelp
- Knowledge of software for providing visual aids in electronic format
- Knowledge of Atlassian Jira and Confluence
- Strong written and verbal communication skillsincluding use of cloud-based project tools for collaboration (I.E. Confluence) that require a response in a timely manner
