Job Description
Role & responsibilities
The Site MEP Engineer (PMC) will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works at the project site on behalf of the Project Management Consultant. The role focuses on contractor supervision, quality control, compliance, coordination, and reporting to ensure MEP works are executed as per approved designs, specifications, timelines, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities (PMC Role)
Site Monitoring & Supervision
- Monitor day-to-day MEP site activities executed by contractors.
- Ensure MEP works (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting, ELV) are carried out as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Verify work progress against approved schedules and report deviations.
- Identify construction issues and escalate to the PMC Lead / Client.
Coordination & Interface Management
- Coordinate between MEP contractors, civil, structural, architectural teams, and consultants.
- Facilitate resolution of site-level technical and coordination issues.
- Participate in site coordination meetings and report MEP status.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Inspect MEP works to ensure compliance with project quality standards, codes, and statutory requirements.
- Verify materials and workmanship against approved submittals.
- Maintain quality checklists, inspection reports, and NCR follow-ups.
Safety Monitoring
- Ensure contractors adhere to HSE guidelines and site safety norms.
- Report unsafe practices and support corrective actions.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Witness testing and commissioning of MEP systems.
- Ensure snags are identified, tracked, and closed.
- Support final inspections and handover activities.
- Review as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and close-out documents.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily / weekly MEP progress reports for PMC and Client.
- Track material approvals, shop drawings, and method statements.
- Maintain site records, inspection logs, and correspondence.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of MEP systems from a PMC/monitoring perspective.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and BOQs.
- Experience in contractor oversight rather than direct execution.
- Good coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in PMC or client-side roles for Chemical Plant, FMCG , any Manufacturing plant project
- Site-based exposure across execution, testing, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Familiarity with local codes and statutory approvals.
Preferred candidate profile
B.E/B Tech electrical with 10-15 years' experience on site based handling greenfield or Brownfield expansion projects.
