Job Description
Platform Engineer (Technical Hub) * 1
The Platform Engineer is responsible for designing and operating the deployment and runtime engineering framework for the Technical Hub integration platform, ensuring that data pipelines, integration services and supporting components can be deployed, tested, and promoted across environments in a consistent and controlled manner.
The role works closely with integration engineers, data engineers, and SRE teams to establish reliable deployment practices and operational standards for the Technical Hub.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for Technical Hub components, including data transformation pipelines, integration services and publishing components.
- Implementing automated deployment processes for Azure-based services such as Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Data Factory pipelines and Azure Service Bus configurations.
- Hands-on deployment and operational support for Azure workloads such as Azure Functions, container-based services, and services integrating with Azure Service Bus.
- Managing schema migration pipelines to support controlled evolution of canonical data models and database structures.
- Defining and maintaining environment promotion strategies across development, test, pre-production and production environments.
- Preparing release documentation, coordinating releases, and raising change requests for deployments into pre-production and production environments in line with governance processes.
- Managing code integration and release activities, including branching strategies, merging and version control practices.
- Working closely with SRE teams on infrastructure provisioning and Infrastructure-as-Code, ensuring deployment and configuration requirements are clearly defined and aligned with platform standards.
- Implementing secure deployment practices, including identity and access management, secrets management, network security controls and secure configuration of Azure resources (e.g. Managed Identity, Key Vault, RBAC, private endpoints).
- Implementing release management and rollback strategies, including versioning and controlled release processes.
- Supporting observability and operational tooling to monitor integration services and deployment pipelines.
- Providing support for data ingestion pipelines where required, while maintaining primary ownership of deployment, release and environment management for the integration layer.
- Ensuring integration components follow consistent build, deployment and configuration management practices across the Technical Hub platform.
The role requires strong experience with Azure-based platforms, deployment automation, CI/CD practices, version control, and the ability to independently own and operate release pipelines across environments.
