Cashi is Mexico s in-market digital wallet and banking platform, serving as a rapidly evolving financial ecosystem within Walmart. Our team builds and operates critical platforms that power core business capabilities, including wallet payments, credit services, co-branded cards, Remittances, Bank onboarding, and end-to-end customer experiences.
We operate in a highly collaborative, global model across IDC and MX teams, where seamless coordination and shared ownership are key to delivering impact. Our focus is on building cloud-native, high-throughput systems with real-time processing and high availability at scale.

What You ll Do

Architect at Scale - Design and own end-to-end architecture for high-availability, high-throughput backend services and platform capabilities, ensuring systems are secure, resilient, and built for the demands of financial-grade workloads.

Drive Technical Excellence - Establish and enforce engineering standards across the team - code reviews, design reviews, testing practices, and observability - raising the bar for quality and reliability across the platform.

Lead Complex Delivery - Break down ambiguous, large-scale engineering problems into executable roadmaps; partner with product and engineering leadership to align technical decisions with business outcomes.

Mentor & Grow Engineers - Serve as a technical coach and thought leader for senior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and engineering craftsmanship.

Champion Platform Modernization - Identify and drive strategic initiatives around platform scalability, microservices migration, cloud-native adoption, and reduction of technical debt
What You ll bring

Deep Java Expertise -12+ years of backend engineering experience with strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot / Spring Cloud), microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ); experience in fintech or banking domains is a strong plus.

Platform & Infrastructure Acumen - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and building highly observable, production-grade systems with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.

Architectural Thinking - Proven ability to design distributed systems at scale - including patterns like CQRS, event sourcing, saga, and API gateway - with a strong grasp of database technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Cassandra).

Technical Leadership - Demonstrated experience influencing technical direction across teams without direct authority; ability to write technical RFCs, lead design reviews, and align stakeholders across engineering and product.

Financial Domain Awareness - Familiarity with fintech/banking concepts such as payment, remittances rails, core banking systems, regulatory compliance considerations (PCI-DSS, SOC 2), and the operational rigor required in regulated environments.
