Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Mentor, lead and train the Business Analyst and the Software Engineering Department on the Software Requirement Management and Development process.
  • Ensure a consistent requirement management and development process is being following across all software project applications.
  • Interview, train and provide leadership and guidance to the Business Analyst.
  • Ensure Software Engineering is using the latest techniques and best practices for requirements management and development. Lead initiatives and stay current with the software industry.
  • Work with business partners to identify business and user needs, and gather requirements for development of applications and projects.
  • Manage both internal and external requests from business owners and customers for software solutions.
  • Analyze business and user needs, document business requirements, use cases, and diagrams, and translate into proper technical and development specifications and test plans.
  • Assist business partners in prioritization process, using understanding of cost benefit analysis to make decisions & set expectations.
  • Ensure that requirements are adequately defined and uniformly understood by our customers and software engineers.
  • Facilitate functionality walk-thru meeting with key customers and developers.
  • Ability to model the business domain and document the domain as a result of requirements gathering.
  • Sr Business Analyst II only - Work with the requirements management team to develop a set of consistent standards in developing and documenting requirements.
  • Continue to learn best software practices for requirements elicitation, documentation, management, and domain modeling.
  • Provide project management functions for software applications.
  • Ability to multi-task priorities and assignments, and following up on action items.
  • Communicate project progress, status, and issues to project team members, stakeholders and senior management.
  • Ensure that requirements are on schedule per the timeline and roadmaps.
  • Sr Business Analyst II only - Work with Software Managers and team leads to ensure the requirement management and development process is being followed.
  • Document and distribute meeting minutes/notes.
  • Ensure project files are in compliance with ISO standards.
  • Provide and promote internal communication between Software Engineering and other functional groups within the organization.
  • Work closely with the Product Management to implement and continuously improve Product Development Procedures
  • Maintain project documentation in a clear & consistent format that is visible to team members.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements

  • Education (i.e. 4-year college degree, license, certification)
  • Sr Business Analyst II - Minimum of 5 + years of experience as a Business Analyst
  • Experience with MS Office Products (Project, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio)
  • Working knowledge of requirement management tools

Knowledge / Technical Requirements

  • Solid understanding of requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and management practices.
  • Extensive experience in gathering and tracking requirements.
  • Basic working knowledge of applications programming.
  • High degree of computer literacy required.
  • Technical background

  • Able to effectively train and mentor other Business Analysts to succeed in their position.
