Job Description
As a Senior Staff Cloud Engineer at GE HealthCare, you will lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale, secure cloud solutions on AWS. You will drive cloud architecture strategy, mentor engineering teams, and leverage AI/ML technologies to transform our infrastructure operations. This is a highly technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in cloud engineering and the ability to influence technical direction across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Engineering
- Design and implement secure, scalable, high-performance AWS-based solutions that meet enterprise business requirements
- Develop repeatable, well-documented engineering patterns and solutions for broad organizational adoption
- Review and optimize existing cloud architectures for performance, security, and cost efficiency
- Ensure architectural consistency and alignment with industry standards and GE HealthCare's cloud strategy
- Monitor system performance and resolve complex technical issues to maintain high availability
AI-Driven Infrastructure Innovation
- Integrate AI-powered tools to automate infrastructure provisioning, optimize resource allocation, and enhance monitoring capabilities
- Develop AI agents and workflows for infrastructure-as-code generation, documentation automation, and predictive maintenance
- Evaluate and adopt emerging AI technologies that align with security requirements and industry best practices
- Drive the transformation of cloud infrastructure operations through machine learning solutions
Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, promoting cloud best practices and driving technical excellence
- Lead domain-wide technical and business discussions regarding future architecture direction
- Develop and communicate policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures across the organization
- Define skills, competencies, and talent requirements for architecture team members
- Challenge conventional approaches and help stakeholders identify improvement opportunities
Collaboration & Operations
- Partner closely with project management to ensure architectural alignment with project goals and delivery timelines
- Support L4+ troubleshooting and incident escalations
- Recommend cost-effective solutions with focus on financial operations optimization
- Create and monitor key metrics to validate architectural designs
- Lead early-stage customer interactions and guide enterprise-level technical solution alignment
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with minimum 14+years of experience in cloud engineering
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience designing and deploying enterprise-scale cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure
- Deep expertise in cloud-native design patterns, microservices architecture, and distributed systems
- Advanced knowledge of network architecture and API integrations across cloud platforms
- Strong problem-solving abilities with experience troubleshooting complex technical issues
- Experience with healthcare compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.)
- Ability to analyze current state, design future state, and develop comprehensive implementation roadmaps
- Experience managing operational stability through all lifecycle phases (planning, implementation, steady state, decommissioning)
Leadership & Communication
- Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills with ability to identify pragmatic alternatives
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively and influence across all organizational levels
- Proven ability to build consensus with global teams and leadership
- Experience guiding customers through enterprise-level technical decisions and legacy system integration
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certifications in Microsoft Azure (Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps Engineer Expert)
- Experience with generative AI platforms and automation tools
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep)
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Background in healthcare technology or regulated industries
- Knowledge of other clouds (Azure/OCI)
