Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Server Administration

Lead enterprise-level on-premises and hybrid server operations, ensuring uptime, performance, and scalability.
Manage and administer Windows Server (2016/2019/2022/2025) and Active Directory environments, including:
Domain & forest design, replication, and DNS/DHCP management.
Group Policy Objects (GPOs), role-based access control, AD Certificate Services (ADCS), ADFS.
Integration with Azure AD, Microsoft 365, and hybrid identity (Azure AD Connect).
Maintain and secure file, print, and application servers.
Implement and manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.

2. Linux Administration (Primary Focus)

Administer and secure multi-flavour Linux systems including:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE, Oracle Linux.
Configure services: SSH, NFS, Samba, Apache/Nginx, Postfix, firewalld, SELinux, LVM.
Manage patching, package repositories, and configuration automation with Red Hat Satellite or equivalent.
Implement OS-level hardening and compliance with CIS/NIST standards.

3. Virtualization & Containerization

Manage and optimize virtualization platforms: VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, RHV, KVM, Citrix, XenServer.
Deploy and manage Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) for running VM workloads on Kubernetes.
Administer containerized environments using Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
Integrate with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for configuration and lifecycle management.

4. Storage, Backup & Disaster Recovery

Administer enterprise storage systems: SAN, NAS, iSCSI.
Maintain backup and recovery solutions.
Develop and document disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

5. Automation, Monitoring & Security

Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
Deploy and manage infrastructure monitoring systems: Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, Red Hat Insights.
Implement patch management, vulnerability mitigation, and system hardening processes.

6. Leadership & Collaboration

Serve as Tier-3 technical expert for escalations related to AD, servers, and virtualization.
Mentor junior administrators and lead cross-functional infrastructure projects.
Collaborate with networking, security, and DevOps teams for seamless operations.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and change control processes.

Preferred candidate profile

Windows Server Administration: Advanced skills in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, ADCS, ADFS, hybrid identity.

Linux Systems: Administration of RHEL, CentOS/Rocky/AlmaLinux, Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE, Oracle Linux.
Virtualization: VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, RHV, KVM, Citrix, XenServer, and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt).
Containerization: Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
Storage & Backup: SAN/NAS, iSCSI
Automation & Scripting: Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Puppet/Chef.
Monitoring: Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, Red Hat Satellite/Insights.
Networking & Security: VLANs, routing, firewalls, load balancing, SSL, VPN, QoS.
Cloud Integration: AWS, Azure, GCP (hybrid deployments).
