What you ll do

Own and operate large scale in memory cache platforms (Redis, Memcached, Aerospike, or managed equivalents) that support mission critical retail workloads such as search, pricing, checkout, inventory, and returns.

Design, deploy, and maintain high availability, low latency cache architectures, including clustering, sharding, replication, and automated failover.

Ensure reliability and resilience through SRE best practices, including defining SLIs/SLOs, managing error budgets, and participating in on call rotations.

Build and maintain observability for cache platforms by monitoring latency, cache hit/miss ratios, memory utilisation, eviction patterns, and connection health.

Lead capacity planning and performance tuning to support traffic spikes during peak retail events while meeting strict latency targets.

Automate provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and scaling of cache infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.

Implement safe operational practices such as rolling upgrades, cache warm ups, and controlled cache invalidation during deployments.

Drive cost optimisation (FinOps) by right sizing memory, tuning TTLs and eviction policies, and eliminating inefficient cache usage.

Partner with application and platform teams to define standard cache usage patterns (cache aside, write through, read through) and reduce operational risk.

Ensure security and compliance by enforcing access controls, encryption, network isolation, and supporting audit and SOX documentation requirements.

Lead incident response for cache related outages, perform root cause analysis, and own blameless postmortems with long term remediation actions.

Act as a platform enabler, abstracting cache complexities and enabling developers to consume cache services through standardised tooling and golden paths.

What you ll bring

Strong experience operating distributed in memory cache systems (Redis, Memcached, Aerospike, or similar) in production at scale.

Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including consistency, replication, partitioning, and fault tolerance.

Proven experience with SRE and DevOps practices, including monitoring, alerting, incident management, and reliability engineering.

Hands on expertise with cloud platforms, container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code tools.

Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and automating infrastructure and platform operations.

Strong knowledge of observability stacks (metrics, logs, dashboards) and performance troubleshooting techniques.

Ability to perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimisation for memory intensive systems.

Good understanding of security, compliance, and enterprise governance requirements in large organisations.

Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with software engineers, platform teams, and site reliability teams.

Ability to lead operational ownership, make sound technical decisions under pressure, and continuously improve platform reliability.
