The role requires a customer-centric approach, designing customised solutions that align with business goals, governance needs, and scalable delivery.
Key Role & Responsibilities
- Architect end-to-end solutions using Microsoft Fabric: OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Notebooks, Spark, and semantic modelling.
- Design ingestion patterns (batch/near real-time), transformation layers, and consumption strategies (Power BI / SQL endpoints).
- Establish governance and compliance design (catalogue, lineage, access, sensitivity labels) with enterprise controls.
- Define standards for workspace strategy, domain-aligned data products, naming conventions, and reusable templates.
- Implement CI/CD and DevOps practices for Fabric artefacts; define release governance and environment strategy.
- Optimise for performance and cost: capacity planning, workload management, partitioning strategies, monitoring and operational dashboards.
- Conduct customer discovery workshops; create solution options and implementation roadmaps; ensure outcomes align to customer priorities.
- Lead and mentor engineers; review designs; ensure high-quality, maintainable, secure implementations.
Must Have
- 10+ years overall experience with a strong Data Engineering background (pipelines, modelling, production operations).
- 3+ years hands-on experience delivering analytics platforms on Azure, with Microsoft Fabric implementation exposure.
- Strong understanding of lakehouse/warehouse patterns, dimensional modelling, and data quality practices.
- Proficiency with SQL and at least one of Python/Spark notebooks for engineering patterns.
- Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing consulting skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with governance tooling (e.g., Microsoft Purview) and enterprise data governance programmes.
- Experience with ADF/Synapse/Databricks migrations to Fabric; capacity planning and FinOps practices.
- Microsoft certifications in data/analytics (Azure Data Engineer, Fabric-related credentials).
