Job Description
1. Clinical & Surgical Duties
- Perform major and minor GI surgeries including:
- Hepatobiliary surgeries (liver resections, bile duct surgeries)
- Pancreatic surgeries (Whipple procedure, distal pancreatectomy)
- Upper GI surgeries (gastrectomy, fundoplication)
- Colorectal surgeries (colectomy, proctectomy)
- Manage GI cancers in coordination with oncology teams
- Perform laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries
- Evaluate patients in OPD, IPD, and emergency settings
- Interpret diagnostic tests (CT, MRI, endoscopy findings)
2. Pre & Post-Operative Care
- Conduct thorough pre-surgical assessments and risk stratification
- Optimize patients before surgery (nutrition, comorbidities)
- Monitor post-operative recovery and manage complications
- Ensure proper discharge planning and follow-ups
3. Emergency & Critical Care
- Handle acute surgical emergencies:
- GI perforation
- Intestinal obstruction
- GI bleeding
- Trauma cases
- Participate in ICU rounds and critical care management
4. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Gastroenterologists
- Medical & radiation oncologists
- Radiologists
- Pathologists
- ICU specialists
- Participate in tumor boards and case discussions
5. Academic & Research Responsibilities
- Teach residents, fellows, and interns
- Conduct CMEs, workshops, and case presentations
- Engage in clinical research and publish in journals
- Stay updated with global surgical advancements
