Role:
- The EHS Officer (Corporate Office) will drive a centralized EHS strategy focused on standardization, compliance, and continuous improvement across all locations PAN India.
- The strategy will emphasize the development of uniform EHS frameworks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and audit mechanisms to ensure consistent implementation across Head Office and branch offices.
- A hub-and-spoke governance model will be adopted, wherein the Corporate Office acts as the central authority for policy formulation, performance monitoring, capacity building, and risk management, while local offices execute site-level compliance and reporting.
- The role will prioritize proactive risk identification, legal compliance management, and preventative controls through regular inspections, audits, and incident trend analysis. Digital tools and standardized reporting systems will be leveraged to monitor EHS performance, track corrective actions, and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Continuous engagement with stakeholdersincluding Facilities, HR, local EHS champions, and vendorswill be central to embedding a strong safety culture across all offices.
- The overall strategy aims to move beyond regulatory compliance to foster a culture of safety, health, and environmental responsibility, ensuring business continuity, employee well-being, and alignment with organizational values and sustainability objectives.
A. Operational Health & Safety Management
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) specific to office environments (e.g., electrical safety, slips/trips, server room hazards).
- Ergonomics Program: Lead corporate ergonomics initiatives, conduct workstation assessments, and provide guidance to prevent musculoskeletal disorders.
- Permit to Work (PTW): Administer and control issuance of work permits for high-risk activities (e.g., work at height, electrical maintenance, plumbing), ensuring strict compliance.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of incidents and near-misses, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
B. Emergency Preparedness & Life Safety
- Emergency Planning: Develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans (ERP) including evacuation procedures for fire, medical emergencies, and disasters.
- Fire Safety: Ensure compliance and maintenance of fire detection and suppression systems; coordinate with building management.
- Training: Train and manage Emergency Response Teams (ERT), including Fire Marshals, Floor Wardens, and First Aiders.
- Drills: Conduct periodic fire drills and emergency simulations.
C. Environmental & Sustainability Governance
- Waste Management: Oversee segregation, storage, and disposal of waste including e-waste and hazardous waste.
- Resource Monitoring: Track energy consumption, water usage, and environmental metrics to support sustainability goals.
- ISO Compliance: Maintain documentation and support audits for ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
D. Statutory Compliance, Liaisoning & PAN India Coordination
- PAN India EHS Governance: Establish, standardize, and monitor EHS policies and frameworks across all branch offices to ensure uniform implementation.
- Cross-location Coordination: Work with local office representatives, facility teams, and vendors to ensure EHS practices are effectively implemented and maintained.
- Liaison with Authorities: Coordinate with local statutory bodies (Fire Department, Pollution Control Board, Municipal Authorities, etc.) across locations through local teams to ensure all licenses, approvals, and compliances are maintained.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to applicable laws such as Shops & Establishments Act, National Building Code, and other local regulations across all locations.
- Audit & Monitoring: Conduct periodic audits (physical/virtual) of branch offices and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Vendor Compliance: Ensure third-party vendors across all offices comply with EHS standards and organizational requirements.
E. Travel & Site Monitoring
- Undertake periodic travel to branch offices and locations for EHS audits, Compliance checks, Incident investigations, Implementation reviews and to provide on-ground guidance and ensure alignment with corporate EHS standards across locations.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelors Degree (Science/Engineering preferred)
- Mandatory Certification: Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS) from a recognized board (MSBTE/RLI/CLI)
- Essential Training: Certification in First Aid & CPR and Basic Fire Fighting
- Preferred Certifications: IOSH Managing Safely / ISO 45001 Internal Auditor
- Experience: 1215 years of relevant EHS experience, preferably in corporate or multi-location environments, with demonstrated ability to independently manage and establish EHS systems and frameworks
- Proficiency in identifying office-specific hazards and conducting Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) for any incidents.
- Strong ability to deliver engaging safety inductions and wellness campaigns for a corporate workforce.
- Ability to manage EHS dashboards, track safety metrics, and report on monthly KPIs using MS Office or EHS software (e.g., Enablon, Gensuite).
- Comfortable with EHS management systems and office automation tools.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability in influencing, negotiation, and driving engagement across all organizational levels.
