About Wah!Bharat (Unit of Palmspire)
Wah!Bharat is a Hindi-first digital media brand bringing lesser-known stories from India's history to a modern audience forgotten kings, overlooked dynasties, cultural turning points, and untold moments from across the subcontinent. We hold ourselves to a "Pride Without Propaganda" editorial standard: the craft has to be as rigorous as the research.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Video Editor who can move fluently between formats cutting a 60-second reel that stops the scroll and shaping a 15-minute YouTube documentary that holds attention to the end. You'll be the second half of the story: the person who decides what the audience actually feels.
Key Responsibilities
Short-form (Reels / Shorts)
- Edit 3090 second videos following our 5-beat narrative structure
- Tight voiceover sync, punchy cuts, kinetic text overlays
- Platform-ready 9:16 exports with captions and thumbnails
Long-form (YouTube Documentaries / Deep-Dives)
- Edit 820 minute episodes with proper narrative arcs cold open, chapters, payoff
- Build chapter markers, B-roll sequences, recurring visual motifs, and end-screen CTAs
- Pace longer voiceovers across multiple acts without losing the viewer
- Design 16:9 thumbnails optimized for click-through
Across both formats
- Source and integrate archival imagery, paintings, maps, miniatures, and stock footage relevant to Indian historical periods
- Design clean Devanagari typography, lower-thirds, and on-screen callouts
- Color grade for a consistent brand look across episodes
- Sound design foley, ambient layering, music selection that fits the era
- Flag visual gaps to the script/research team before recording
Must-Have Skills
- 2+ years editing both short-form and long-form video (portfolio should show both)
- Strong command of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (or DaVinci Resolve + Motion equivalents)
- Able to read and understand Hindi scripts comfortably
- A demonstrable sense of pacing in both 60-second and 15-minute formats they're different muscles
- Reliable remote setup: capable hardware, stable internet, ability to handle large media files and long timelines
Good to Have
- Background editing for history, mythology, culture, or documentary content
- Motion graphics chops, especially kinetic Devanagari typography
- Familiarity with YouTube best practices retention curves, chapter markers, thumbnail testing
- Familiarity with archival sources Internet Archive, museum digital collections, CC-licensed material and basic licensing hygiene
Compensation
Competitive, based on experience and portfolio. Discussed at interview.
