    Job Description Mental Health Nurse Job Title: Mental Health Nurse Location: Gurugram Reports to: Head of Operations Department: Nursing - Mental Health Job Summary SOUL SPACE is seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Nurse to join our team. The Mental Health Nurse will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, including those with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, and other psychiatric conditions. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver nursing care, conduct mental health assessments, administer medications, and support patients" physical and emotional recovery in a therapeutic, compassionate environment. Key Responsibilities Patient Assessment & Care Planning: Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients mental and physical health to develop individualized care plans. Monitor patients mental state, physical health, and overall well-being, documenting progress and providing updates to the care team. Work with other healthcare professionals (e.g., psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers) to create and implement comprehensive care plans. Administer Medications & Treatments: Administer prescribed medications (oral, injectable, etc.) and monitor their effects on patients, ensuring proper dosage and adherence. Educate patients about their medications, including potential side effects, and ensure they understand the importance of adhering to their prescribed regimen. Monitor patients for adverse reactions to medications and coordinate with the medical team for adjustments as needed. Provide Therapeutic Support & Counseling: Provide one-on-one and group support to patients, helping them manage emotional distress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. Assist patients in developing coping strategies, stress management techniques, and self-care routines. Offer psychoeducation to patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and the importance of holistic care. Crisis Intervention & Management: Assess and manage patients in crisis situations, such as suicidal ideation, severe anxiety attacks, or aggression. Use de-escalation techniques and provide immediate support to ensure patient safety. Collaborate with the mental health team in handling psychiatric emergencies, including coordinating with emergency services when necessary. Monitoring & Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential patient records, including assessments, care plans, progress notes, and medication administration. Document any changes in a patients mental state or physical health, and report significant findings to the medical team. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in all aspects of patient care, maintaining patient confidentiality and respect. Patient Education & Advocacy: Educate patients and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and recovery strategies. Promote patient autonomy by encouraging active participation in their care and treatment decisions. Advocate for patients rights and ensure they have access to the necessary resources and support systems. Collaboration with the Care Team: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and social workers, to provide coordinated care. Participate in care team meetings, contributing insights from a nursing perspective and supporting overall treatment planning. Provide updates on patient progress and discuss any challenges or concerns with the team. Health Promotion & Wellness Activities: Facilitate wellness and recovery-oriented activities such as stress management workshops, relaxation sessions, and group therapies. Promote healthy lifestyles and self-care practices, including nutrition, sleep hygiene, and physical exercise, to support overall mental wellness. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in Delhi/NCR. Certification in psychiatric or mental health nursing is preferred (e.g., RN-BC, PMHN-BC). Additional training in therapeutic interventions, crisis management, or mental health is highly desirable. Experience: Minimum two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in a mental health or psychiatric setting. Experience in working with diverse populations and individuals with complex mental health issues. Familiarity with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and mood disorders are essential. Skills: Strong knowledge of mental health conditions, medications, and nursing interventions. Ability to perform mental health assessments, develop care plans, and administer treatments effectively. Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and documentation software. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and listening skills. Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional in crisis situations. Personal Attributes: Compassionate, empathetic, and patient with a genuine desire to help others.
