- New Product Development Head (NPD Head): (EXPERIENCE IN SG & GREY IRON CASTING FOUNDRY) Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate the development of new CI/DI products from conceptualization to production. Collaborate with design engineers, metallurgists, and other stakeholders to create detailed product specifications. Pattern Design: Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to create accurate and detailed patterns for casting metal components. Understand product requirements and design patterns with gating methods that meet those specifications. Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials for pattern construction, considering factors such as durability, shrinkage, and dimensional stability. Work with a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and plastic, to construct patterns. Pattern Construction: Oversee activities involved in constructing patterns with precision and attention to detail. Oversee assembly and join pattern components, ensuring proper fit and alignment. Prototype Development: Creation of prototypes to validate design concepts, ensuring they meet performance, durability, and quality standards. Work closely with foundry technicians to refine and optimize casting processes for new products. Materials and Metallurgy: Conduct research on materials and metallurgical properties to enhance product performance and durability. Collaborate with metallurgical experts to select appropriate alloys for specific applications. Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the foundry, aiming to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity. Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to streamline production processes. Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control procedures for new product lines, ensuring products meet or exceed industry standards. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address and resolve any product quality issues. Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis for new product development, providing recommendations for cost-effective manufacturing processes and materials. Collaborate with the finance team to establish pricing strategies for new products. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality assurance, and sales, to ensure seamless integration of new products into the production process. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the product development process, including design specifications, testing results, and manufacturing instructions. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 10 years of experience in new product development, preferably in the foundry industry with expertise in grey cast and ductile iron products. Proven track record of successfully leading NPD teams and bringing innovative products to market. Strong technical expertise in pattern shop operations, casting processes, metallurgy, and materials science. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams across multiple disciplines. Strategic mindset with the ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies and initiatives. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies. Knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory requirements. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed. As a NPD Head, you will be responsible for Cost estimation new product development including pattern. Knowledge Pattern Layout , Pattern Design Repairs/ Modifications of pattern equipment for any dimensional correction. Sound knowledge of pattern drawing, casting drawing and machining drawing. New product Development Part Approval Process. Worked closely with customers to meet specific PPAP, APQP documentation requirements. Work on Root Cause Analysis, Disposal Action and Corrective and Preventive action. Able to handle customer complaints & audit.
