Job Description
- Your opportunity As a Lead database engine developer, you will be instrumental in transforming our database engine to operate at exabyte scale. Our analytical database engine ingests trillions of data points per day, enabling lightning-fast queries with an impressive 60 ms response time at P50. Your technical leadership will ensure that our system seamlessly handles exabytes of data daily. What you'll do Technical Strategy: Develop and execute forward-thinking technical strategies for our database engine, aligning with Newrelics business goals. Scalability and Performance: Optimize the engine to handle exabyte-scale data while maintaining exceptional query performance. Efficient Ingestion: Enhance data ingestion pipelines to accommodate trillions of data points. Query Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to fine-tune query execution and response times. Reliability and Resilience: Ensure mission-critical cloud services operate with high reliability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery capabilities. This role requires 7 + years of experience into database engine development Exposure to core areas of Database Products( Database Engine Internals ) such as Query Optimization and Query Execution, Distributed database & Parallel Query Execution, Expression optimization & evaluation Experience with: C, C++, Unix, Linux, Windows, Data Structures & Algorithms, Database Internals, PostgreSQL, CitusDB, MySQL. Experience working with one of the major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) Extensive experience in a SaaS environment, building and operating large scale distributed systems. Ability to collaborate and impact decisions at the interpersonal level Strong written and verbal communication skills Observability domain knowledge Experience operating containerized services (Kubernetes, Mesos/Marathon) Solid understanding of databases (RDS, MySQL, PostgreSQL) Experience with configuration management tooling (Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet) ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, Apache Iceberg, Apache Spark, Spark SQL, Cassandra Work experience with data platforms, data lakes, scalability, and integration with multiple data sources. Skills like benchmarking, large Scale distributed database deployments, Data ingestion and Query performance optimisation, Integrations and migrations etc. BS/MS/PhD in CS (or equivalent).,
