Qualifications 2+ years" of culinary or kitchen experience as Jr. Sous Chef or Sous Chef. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills Highly organized with excellent attention to detail. Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management. Key responsibilities of a sous chef: Supervising kitchen staff: Leading and directing the line cooks, ensuring they follow recipes and maintain proper food handling practices. Menu planning and development: Collaborating with the head chef to create new menu items, adjusting existing dishes, and ensuring food quality and presentation. Training and mentoring junior Chef's: Providing on-the-job training to new kitchen staff, teaching culinary techniques and standards. Inventory management: Tracking food inventory, ordering supplies, and managing costs to maintain profitability. Kitchen operations management: Overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow, and addressing any issues that arise. Food preparation: Actively participating in cooking tasks, especially when needed during busy periods. Quality control: Inspecting ingredients, monitoring cooking processes, and ensuring dishes meet quality standards. Staff scheduling: Creating staff schedules based on anticipated business volume. Maintaining sanitation and hygiene: Enforcing proper sanitation practices in the kitchen, ensuring cleanliness of equipment and work areas.,
