Job Description
- Nurse duties include assessing patient health, developing care plans, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, performing medical procedures, educating patients and families, and maintaining patient records. They also collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals, advocate for patients, provide emotional support, and may supervise junior staff. Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct physical examinations, collect health histories, and monitor vital signs to assess a patient's current health status and needs.
- Medication & Treatment Administration: Administer prescribed medications and treatments, monitoring patients for any side effects or reactions.
- Care Planning & Implementation: Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care plans in collaboration with the medical team.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed health records, documenting all patient interactions, treatments, and changes in condition.
- Patient & Family Education: Counsel patients and their families on their health conditions, treatment plans, and ways to promote health and prevent future illness.
- Communication & Collaboration: Communicate effectively with doctors, other nurses, and healthcare staff to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights are respected and their needs are met within the healthcare setting.
- Supervision: Oversee and direct the work of licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and nursing students.
- Safety & Environment: Ensure a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff by maintaining equipment and following sterile procedures.
