Position Title: Database Lead
Experience: 10- 15 yrs
Shift Timings: 11:30 AM - 8:30 PM IST
Location: Hyderabad/Indore.
Job Description (Job Summary/Roles & Responsibilities)
As a Database Lead, you will own the design, implementation, tuning, and day-to-day operations of our database systems. You will be a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (must-have) and practical exposure to MongoDB (good-to-have). You will work with cross-functional teams to support reporting, analytics, and MMC Tech's long-term data strategy. Experience with ETL, Databricks, and data architecture is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead implementation, configuration, performance tuning, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server databases (must-have).
- Provide hands-on support for schema design, stored procedures, indexes, execution-plan analysis, and query optimization.
- Administer database security, user roles, backups, and disaster recovery for on-prem and cloud deployments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance and availability issues; implement scalability improvements.
- Support MongoDB implementations and operationalization where applicable (good-to-have).
- Collaborate with analytics and reporting teams to integrate with Power BI, Qlik, Crystal Reports, and other BI tools.
- Coordinate with engineering teams on ETL/data integration processes and pipelines (good-to-have).
- Contribute to data architecture discussions and implementation plans; drive best practices for data modeling and governance (good-to-have).
- Document database designs, ER diagrams, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Mentor and guide junior DBAs/engineers and provide technical leadership on database initiatives.
Requirements
Key Skills & Experience:
- Must-have: Extensive, hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server writing and optimizing stored procedures, triggers, complex queries, index strategy, and execution-plan tuning.
- Good-to-have: Experience with MongoDB (NoSQL operations, schema design, and performance considerations).
- Good-to-have: Familiarity with ETL tools/processes and data pipeline orchestration.
- Good-to-have: Exposure to Databricks and data lake integration.
- Strong understanding of database design principles, ACID properties, and high-performance schema design.
- Experience managing database security, backups, availability, and DR strategies.
- Familiarity with cloud database services and concepts (AWS-related experience is a plus).
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills; demonstrated ability to lead technical teams.
Desired Skills
Qualifications:
- 1015 years of professional experience in database administration, database development, or data engineering with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
- Proven track record of administering and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server in production environments (required).
- Experience with MongoDB, ETL processes, Databricks, or data architecture as desirable additions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
