 Assistant Safety Manager

Job Description

Key Responsibilities


1. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control

  • Identify potential safety hazards (e.g., slips, trips, falls, equipment malfunctions, racking hazards).
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement control measures to mitigate risks.

2. Safety Training & Awareness

  • Plan and deliver regular training on safety protocols, equipment handling, PPE usage, hazardous materials, and emergency response.
  • Promote safety awareness through toolbox talks, safety drills, and visual communication boards.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Adherence

  • Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, Factories Act).
  • Maintain updated knowledge of safety laws, rules, and best practices.

4. Incident Management

  • Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Prepare incident reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.

5. Safety Inspections & Audits

  • Conduct routine inspections of warehouse, machinery, storage areas, and safety systems.
  • Coordinate and support internal/external safety audits and inspections.

6. PPE Monitoring

  • Ensure availability, correct usage, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Enforce PPE compliance among staff, contractors, and visitors.

7. Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop, implement, and periodically drill emergency procedures (fire evacuation, chemical spill, natural disaster response).
  • Coordinate with local emergency services when needed.

8. Continuous Safety Improvement

  • Track safety KPIs and prepare performance reports for management review.
  • Support implementation of 5S, Kaizen, and other safety-related initiatives to improve workplace safety standards.

9. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, training, and compliance.
  • Prepare monthly safety performance reports for management.

10. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with operations, HR, maintenance, and facility teams to foster a culture of safety.
  • Engage employees in safety committees and improvement programs.
