BCP & Disaster Recovery Lead
Role Summary
The IT BCP & DR Lead is responsible for managing risks that could seriously impact Infrastructure Services. The role ensures minimum agreed service levels are maintained by reducing risk to an acceptable level and planning for recovery of infrastructure services in case of disruptions. This includes compliance monitoring, testing, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous improvement of BCP processes.
Key Objectives
- Ensure continuous availability of infrastructure services by implementing robust Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies.
- Maintain compliance with Customer IT BCP requirements for all in-scope systems.
- Provide service assurance through proactive planning, testing, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
BCP & DR Planning
- Develop and maintain IT BCP annual plan aligned with organizational and customer requirements.
- Identify critical infrastructure components and resources in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Define Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) for critical systems.
Compliance & Monitoring
- Monitor, report, and ensure compliance of systems with Customer IT BCP requirements.
- Maintain audit readiness and regulatory compliance for BCP and DR processes.
Testing & Documentation
- Schedule and execute IT BCP and DR tests as per defined processes.
- Document test results and share reports with stakeholders.
- Maintain SOPs for recovery procedures and update KEDB (Known Error Database).
Risk Management
- Assess risks impacting infrastructure services and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure continuous access to Customer systems from alternate locations seamlessly.
Incident Response & Recovery
- Coordinate recovery efforts during major incidents or disasters.
- Ensure timely restoration of services to meet agreed SLAs.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with infrastructure teams, network teams, and business units to align continuity plans.
- Provide service assurance reports and communicate recovery readiness to leadership.
Automation & Optimization
- Leverage automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) for DR orchestration and compliance checks.
- Implement observability frameworks for real-time risk monitoring.
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of BCP frameworks, Disaster Recovery strategies, and ITIL processes.
- Familiarity with cloud DR solutions (AWS, Azure, OCI) and on-prem DR setups.
- Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Remedy) for incident and change management.
- Understanding of network failover, data replication, and HA/DR architectures.
Certifications
- ITIL Foundation or Intermediate.
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or equivalent.
- Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure/OCI) preferred.
