Role- Asst. Manager/Project Manager (Data Annotation Project/ AIML Project)
Job Location - Ranchi (WFO)
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and results-oriented professional to lead large-scale data annotation and labeling projects involving both image and video data. The role demands strong project management, operational excellence, stakeholder coordination, and team leadership to ensure timely and high-quality data delivery for AI/ML projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage project scope, POCs/Pilots, timelines, resource plans, and budgets for annotation and labeling projects.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams such as AI/ML, SA, GSM and Operations to ensure seamless project execution.
- Oversee end-to-end workflows for image and video annotation including bounding boxes, segmentation, classification, object tracking, and frame-level labeling.
- Implement and maintain robust Quality Control (QC) processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
- Track and analyze key project metrics (throughput, accuracy, turnaround time, and cost) and present regular performance updates to leadership.
- Identify process bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on tools, workflows, automation, and workforce training.
- Ensure adherence to data security, confidentiality, and privacy standards across all annotation activities.
- Manage SLAs, risk mitigation, and escalations to maintain smooth operations and client satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed project documentation such as project setup , progress reports, and change management logs, risk register and prepare presentations for monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews.
- Oversee daily center operations, ensuring adherence to shifts, productivity goals, and compliance with security and quality standards.
- Monitor performance indicators such as attendance, shrinkage, and utilization to optimize center efficiency.
- Coordinate with HR, Admin, and IT teams to ensure operational readiness, infrastructure support, and workforce availability.
- Conduct regular team reviews, process audits, and feedback sessions to drive engagement and continuous improvement.
- Support onboarding, and training of annotation staff to build strong and capable delivery teams.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate large, distributed teams to achieve quality and productivity targets.
- Foster a performance-driven, collaborative work culture aligned with organizational goals.
- Drive skill development, operational discipline, and accountability within the team.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors degree in any stream
- Minimum 5+ years of experience managing data annotation, labeling, or AI/ML data operations projects.
- Proven expertise in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and workforce management.
- Strong understanding of annotation techniques such as semantic segmentation, bounding boxes, polygon annotations, 3D Lidar
- Practical experience with annotation tools like Dataloop, CVAT, Labelbox, or similar platforms.
- Analytical and data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret performance metrics and drive operational improvements.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing large, distributed, or multi-site teams.
- Strong understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance frameworks.
- Certification in PMP, PRINCE2, or Six Sigma preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in automotive, AI/ML, or data operations domains is an added advantage.
