Job Description
Job Title: IT Project Manager
Purpose of the Role
The IT Project Manager will lead and manage complex, large-scale IT projects and programs, ensuring successful delivery within defined scope, timelines, budget, and quality standards. This role requires strong strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and the ability to mentor teams while working closely with senior stakeholders to drive business-aligned outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex IT projects, including scope definition, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Develop, manage, and track detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Establish and enforce project governance, processes, and reporting mechanisms in alignment with PMO standards.
- Act as the primary escalation point for project risks, issues, and dependencies; proactively drive resolution.
- Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Ensure effective communication and stakeholder engagement across business, technology, and leadership teams.
- Align project outcomes with organizational strategy, technology roadmap, and long-term business objectives.
- Oversee transition to operations/support teams post go-live to ensure stability and continuity.
- Ensure compliance with architecture standards, SDLC practices, and organizational governance frameworks.
- Work closely with vendors and third-party partners to manage delivery, timelines, and contractual obligations.
- Deliver regular project status updates, dashboards, and executive-level reports to senior management.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Project Management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of overall IT experience with at least 5+ years in a Project Manager role handling complex initiatives.
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Project planning, process strategy, and project governance setup
- Monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder communication
- Hands-on problem-solving and complex solutioning
- Proven experience delivering projects using Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean) as well as hybrid delivery models.
- Strong technical understanding of SDLC, enterprise systems, and IT delivery frameworks.
- Excellent communication, articulation, and stakeholder management skills, including executive interactions.
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing global or multi-regional projects, especially across time zones.
- Domain experience in FMCG, Supply Chain, Retail, Beverages, ERP, Banking, Finance, HR systems, or eCommerce.
- Experience working with or supporting teams aligned to the Australian time zone.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.
- Experience driving process improvements, standardization, and operational excellence across programs.
