Job Title : Senior Database Architect / Database Expert
Experience : 8 12 years (can be adjusted to 1015 if needed)
Role Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Database Expert with deep experience across Oracle, Exadata, and SQL Server, along with exposure to PostgreSQL and MongoDB. This role is responsible for designing, building, and supporting highly available and resilient database platforms, including Disaster Recovery (DR) architecture and implementation across on-prem data centers and multi-cloud environments. The role requires strong technical ownership and the ability to operate in mission-critical enterprise IT landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Database SME and technical authority for enterprise database platforms.
- Provide hands-on administration, tuning, and troubleshooting for Oracle, Exadata, and SQL Server environments.
- Design and implement database DR architectures across on-prem and multi-cloud platforms.
- Define and govern RTO/RPO targets, recovery strategies, and database resiliency standards.
- Build and support database replication, backup, restore, and recovery workflows.
- Lead DR drills, failover, and failback exercises, validating recovery readiness.
- Support PostgreSQL and MongoDB platforms in enterprise and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, storage, network, and cloud teams to ensure end-to-end solution alignment.
- Support database migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
- Create and maintain architecture documents, DR runbooks, SOPs, and recovery procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database (mandatory) and Exadata platforms.
- Solid expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration and DR.
- Working experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL and MongoDB.
- Proven experience designing and implementing Database DR solutions.
- Strong understanding of backup, restore, replication, and recovery mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience with on-prem data center environments.
- Exposure to multi-cloud database architectures.
- Ability to design for high availability, performance, scalability, and resiliency.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud database services (AWS / Azure / OCI).
- Exposure to cross-region, active-passive, and hybrid DR designs.
- Knowledge of automation and scripting for database operations.
- Experience in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments.
- Relevant database or cloud certifications (preferred, not mandatory).
- Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
