AI Evaluator Gaming Subject Matter Expert (SME)
(Contract / Gig-Based Role)
Job Overview:
We are looking for a Gaming Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support an AI evaluation project focused on the gaming domain. This role requires deep expertise in game mechanics, competitive gameplay, performance metrics, and industry evolution to assess, validate, and provide high-quality domain feedback on AI-generated outputs.
This is an ideal opportunity for indie game developers, active modders, esports analysts, or gaming performance specialists who want to contribute their expertise to cutting-edge AI initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and validate AI outputs related to gaming concepts, mechanics, gameplay logic, and player behaviour
- Apply expert judgment on game design systems, balance, progression, and competitive mechanics
- Assess AI responses involving engine limitations, performance constraints, frame-rate data, latency, and optimization factors
- Review content related to competitive meta-strategies, esports dynamics, and pro-level gameplay analysis
- Ensure contextual accuracy with respect to gaming industry trends, franchises, historical evolution, and best practices
- Provide structured feedback and annotations to improve AI model quality and domain accuracy
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Deep understanding of game mechanics, systems design, and gameplay loops
- Strong knowledge of engine constraints and performance considerations (FPS, resolution, latency, hardware impact)
- Familiarity with competitive gaming ecosystems, meta-strategies, and esports analysis
- Awareness of gaming industry history, major studios, franchises, and genre evolution
- Ability to articulate nuanced gaming concepts clearly and objectively
- High attention to detail and analytical thinking
Preferred Backgrounds:
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly preferred:
- Indie game developers (solo or small studio experience)
- Active game modders with deep mechanical or engine-level exposure
- Esports commentators, analysts, or competitive strategists
- Gaming hardware / performance reviewers
- Advanced or semi-professional gamers with analytical gameplay expertise
