Job Description
We are hiring for Consultant Pathologist for Kolkata Location.
Role & responsibilities
- Interpret and report routine and specialized pathological investigations including:
- Histopathology
- Cytopathology
- Hematology
- Clinical Pathology
- Biochemistry (as applicable)
- Review and validate laboratory test results ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Correlate clinical history with laboratory findings for definitive diagnosis
- Participate in clinico-pathological meetings and case discussions
- Provide consultation to clinicians on test selection and interpretation
Laboratory Management & Quality Control
- Ensure adherence to NABL / CAP / ISO quality standards (as applicable)
- Monitor internal and external quality assurance programs
- Supervise laboratory personnel including technicians and junior doctors
- Oversee laboratory operations, workflows, and turnaround times
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory equipment
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate medical records and reports
- Ensure compliance with statutory, ethical, and regulatory requirements
- Support audits, inspections, and accreditation processes
Preferred candidate profile
- MD / DNB in Pathology from a recognized medical institution
- Valid Medical Council / State Medical Council registration
- 2 - 5 years of post-qualification experience
- Experience in hospital-based or standalone diagnostic laboratory setup preferred
- Strong diagnostic and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of laboratory quality systems and accreditation norms
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Leadership and team management abilities
- Proficiency with LIS (Laboratory Information Systems)
