Job Description
Skill: Mongo DBA + Oracle DBA
Location: Bangalore / Hyderabad/ Coimbatore
Notice: Immediate or Less than 30 or 45 days under Serving NP
Shift: 24/7 Rotational shift (L2 or L3 Support)
MongoDB L2 / L3 Support Engineer
Experience:
5+ to 8 years plus either L2+ or L3 Support
Key Responsibilities
L2 Responsibilities
- Provide 247 production support for MongoDB databases.
- Monitor MongoDB clusters (Replica Sets/Sharded Clusters) for availability, performance, and capacity.
- Handle incident management, problem analysis, and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Perform routine DBA activities:
- Backup and restore (mongodump/mongorestore, snapshots)
- Index management
- User/role management
- Troubleshoot:
- Slow queries
- Replication lag
- Connectivity issues
- Disk/CPU/memory bottlenecks
- Work with application teams to resolve data-related issues.
- Execute standard changes following ITIL processes (Change, Incident, Problem).
- Use monitoring and alerting tools (Ops Manager/Cloud Manager, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Maintain operational documentation and runbooks.
L3 Responsibilities
- Act as MongoDB SME for complex technical issues and escalations from L2.
- Design and support highly available, scalable MongoDB architectures.
- Performance tuning:
- Query optimization
- Index strategy design
- Schema modeling and optimization
- Capacity planning and scalability assessments.
- Lead major incident bridges and perform deep root cause analysis.
- Implement and manage:
- Sharding strategies
- Disaster Recovery (DR) setups
- Cross-region replication
- Automate MongoDB operations using Shell, Python, Ansible, Terraform.
- Support MongoDB on cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP):
- MongoDB Atlas
- VM-based MongoDB deployments
- Work with security teams on:
- Encryption at rest & in transit
- Auditing
- Role-based access control
- Participate in architecture reviews and mentoring junior DBAs.
- Coordinate with MongoDB vendor support when required.
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with MongoDB (4.x / 5.x / 6.x).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Replica Sets
- Sharded Clusters
- Deep understanding of:
- WiredTiger storage engine
- Read/write concerns
- Journaling and oplogs
- Proficiency in MongoDB tools:
- mongosh
- MongoDB Compass
- Ops Manager / Atlas
- Linux/Unix administration skills.
- SQL to NoSQL migration experience (preferred).
Cloud & DevOps (Preferred)
- MongoDB on AWS / Azure / GCP.
- CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code exposure.
- Experience with Kubernetes (MongoDB Operator is a plus).
- Monitoring tools: Splunk, ELK, Datadog.
Soft Skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills for client and stakeholder interactions.
- Ability to work in on-call and shift-based environments.
- ITIL process awareness.
Certifications (Preferred)
- MongoDB Certified DBA Associate / Professional
- AWS/Azure certification
- ITIL Foundation
Shift & Support Details
- 247 rotational shifts (for L2)
- On-call support (for L3)
- Weekend support as per rotation
