Job Description
Objective:
To lead and conduct thematic and sustenance compliance testing for Treasury and Market Risk areas to ensure compliance with RBI guidelines. The role focuses on robust closure verification, sustainable control fixes, and prevention of repeat findings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute deep-dive thematic reviews targeting inspection hot-spots across Treasury, Liquidity Risk, Market Risk, Interest Rate Risk in Banking Book (IRRBB), VaR computation, stress testing, etc.
- Identify emerging regulatory risks and incorporate them into thematic compliance testing plans.
- Refresh the compliance testing universe on a quarterly basis based on new/updated RBI issuances and evolving risk themes.
- Deliver detailed compliance testing reports with root-cause analysis and actionable recommendations.
- Translate inspection observations (Audit Reports, RBI Inspection Reports, supervisory letters) into testable remediation requirements for Loans & Advances and Trade Finance.
- Execute assurance testing to validate the adequacy, effectiveness, and sustainability of management responses and corrective actions.
- Verify closure evidence including policy/procedure updates, system control enhancements, training completion, and re-performance outcomes; certify closure or flag gaps for rework.
- Maintain a central tracker capturing observations, commitments, owners, timelines, closure status, and supporting artifacts.
- Ensure robust documentation and evidence management for audit and regulatory reviews.
- Expand thematic testing coverage based on regulatory priorities and resource availability.
- Enforce standardized testing methodologies, sampling approaches, and documentation protocols.
- Mentor and manage a team of compliance testing professionals, ensuring optimal resource allocation and capability building.
- Optimize resource deployment and manage timelines to meet regulatory and internal deadlines.
- Drive enhancements in compliance testing processes through automation, analytics, and best practices.
- Collaborate with business units and Compliance Assurance/ Risk Owners (CAROs) to discuss observations and track remedial actions.
- Ensure timely escalation of issues and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Finance, Banking, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk management with strong exposure to Treasury and Market Risk.
- Hands-on experience in validating RBI Inspection observations and closure processes.
- Strong working knowledge of RBI regulations pertaining to Treasury and Market Risk.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale compliance testing or assurance programs.
