Senior Engineer II - Bengaluru/Bangalore @ HARMAN

The Senior Systems Engineer, requirements is a key project technical focal point to product stakeholders both internal and external to Harman. This position requires a broad background in automotive infotainment and digital cockpit systems. This position requires a broad background, as well as deep knowledge in one or more Digital Cockpit and Infotainment domains such as Vehicle Interfacing, Media, Audio, Device Projection, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Navigation, Cloud interfacing and others. Able to provide technical leadership/mentorship, evaluate tradeoffs, resolve issues, and achieve technical solutions that meet stakeholder requirements. Must be able to communicate effectively and document the resulting product requirements. Serves as the technical interface for assigned program(s) with respect to Integrated Cockpit domains. Candidate shall be primarily responsible for platform system requirements engineering with requirements elicitation, analysis, stakeholder negotiation and documentation in IBM DOORS Next Generation (DNG) tool chain.

What You Will Do

• Technical Product Ownership

• Develops system specifications (functional and non-functional) based on customer and other stakeholders specifications to clearly and concisely capture what is required for the product.

• Document and maintain product requirement exceptions.

• Identifies risk level associated with new feature development based on requirements status.

• Aware of all relevant Federal Standards, industry standards and internal standards and ensures that resulting designs will satisfy these requirements.

• Drive reuse: Lead the development of reusable internal requirements, identifying synergies and opportunities for design reuse.

• Champions problem solving/lessons learned for assigned program(s)/domain(s)

• Responsible for developing and executing requirements baseline management process for project

• Accountable for Requirements metrics targets

• Stakeholder (CPM / Customer) management

• Customer Program Management (CPM) focal point for Requirements Engineering Technical topics for assigned program(s)/domain(s)

• Maintains Master Document List

• Maintains organized repository of both customer and 3rd party requirements specifications

• Generate Requirements Analysis Report (RAR) to CPM for new spec package deliveries

• Supports the sales organization in the business development phase of a program as part of proposal activity, by analyzing customer RFQ specifications and developing technical impact analysis and compliance matrix.

• Change Request Requirements Management

• Responsible for change control management of the project requirements database.

• Champion Change Request impact analysis and provides results to appropriate stakeholders.

• Ensures change requests are implemented in the requirements specifications (once approved)

• Requirements Open Issues Management

• Interfaces with Functional Owners and other stakeholders to drive resolution of open issues for product specification.

• Process/Tools

• Ensures compliance to ASPICE level 3

• Champions opportunities and makes recommendations for improvements in tools and process

• Responsible for developing Requirements strategy for assigned program(s)/domain(s) in compliance with ASPICE.

What You Need

• University Degree preferably in Electronics, Electrical or Computer Science Engineering

• Min. 8 plus years of experience in Systems Engineering

• Able to provide detailed reviews on complex/technical specifications.

• Experience working in a Requirements Management tool, preferably DOORS and/or DNG.

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Flawless written communication skills

• Practical experience in related areas such as system design, hardware/software design, and real-time embedded applications.

• Basic knowledge and understanding of vehicle functions

• Basic knowledge and understanding of ECUs and Automotive CAN communications

• Requirements engineering techniques for functional safety related products (ISO 26262)

What is Nice to Have

• Experience in software development with defect tracking and analysis

• Exposure / familiarity in other engineering domains such as Displays, Mechanical, Hardware and Hardware qualification

• Prior experience as Systems Engineer with customer facing role

• Experience working in a Requirements Management tool, preferably DOORS and/or DNG.

• Certifications in requirement management process and tools

• ASPICE knowledge

• Project management experience

• Experience in IBM RTC
