Job Description
- Job Description Review the existing infrastructure [compute, storage & backup, and networking] and system software inventory and technology landscape. Identify infrastructure and system software assets reaching end-of-life and end-of-service-life. Assist in assessing the technology options to modernize, standardize and replace infrastructure and system software as needed. The assessment of options includes reviewing the suitability of the established and trending technologies such as hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), private/hybrid cloud, open-source software, etc. Provide guidance and recommendations to standardize the infrastructure (technology, vendors, models, etc.) and system software (software, versions, etc.). Guide in the determination of the current capacity (compute, storage and network) and license/subscription counts, and the additional (new & enhancement) requirements for workloads that will be hosted on refreshed legacy infrastructure and/or private cloud (compute, storage, backup-recovery, LAN). Assist in planning the movement of workloads to the refreshed on-premises legacy infrastructure and/or private cloud, and public cloud jointly with the participating vendors. Assist Customer to execute housekeeping on its infrastructure such as performing (storage) data cleansing including data backups, database housekeeping, and removing all unclaimed resources (compute, storage, network ports). Assist Customer to acquire, build & deploy the new on-premises legacy and/or private cloud infrastructure and dispose of the old infrastructure. Assist Customer procurement in the process for hardware, software and services (support, installation & deployment) acquisition. Guide in the creation of a migration plan for workloads and data to the new on-premises infrastructure and for refreshing system software across all infrastructure as needed. Work with Customer to define the roadmap and milestones to transition from legacy infrastructure and private cloud to hybrid/public cloud. Primary Skills: IT Infrastructure, Networking, VMWare virtualization, x86 servers & blades, and backup. Migration plan for workloads and data to the new on-premises infrastructure. Secondary Skills: Infrastructure system software inventory, hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), private/hybrid cloud, open-source software, transition from legacy infrastructure and private cloud to hybrid/public cloud.,
