- Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead in Scientific Cloud Computing to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a passionate cloud computing expert with a strong background in AWS Cloud services, high-performance computing, and ideally some exposure to the life sciences domain. You will be responsible for leading cloud infrastructure and computational projects, optimizing performance, and driving innovation within a dynamic research-driven environment. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage cloud computing infrastructure for scientific research projects, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. Design and implement AWS Cloud solutions, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and other cloud-native services, for high-performance computing workloads. Oversee the architecture and deployment of scalable solutions in AWS, ensuring the effective use of cloud resources for research computations. Collaborate with research teams and stakeholders to understand scientific needs, translating them into technical solutions. Implement, monitor, and optimize the performance of HPC clusters, ensuring efficient resource utilization. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of cloud architects and engineers. Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure and performance issues. Stay current with emerging cloud computing technologies and best practices, and proactively introduce them to the team. Ensure best practices for cloud security, cost management, and performance optimization are followed across projects. Work closely with clients, including those in the life sciences domain, to understand specific needs and challenges. Qualifications: 10+ years of experience in cloud computing, with a focus on AWS. Proven expertise in designing and deploying cloud solutions for high-performance computing (HPC). Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, RDS, and networking solutions. Strong background in optimizing and managing HPC clusters in cloud environments. Experience in automating cloud infrastructure using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). Excellent understanding of cloud security best practices and experience managing cloud security and compliance requirements. Ability to work in a fast-paced, research-driven environment and manage competing priorities. Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Ability to mentor and guide technical teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture. Preferred Qualifications: Exposure to or experience in the life sciences domain, including computational biology, bioinformatics, or medical research. Familiarity with scientific computing tools and libraries (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python, HPC job schedulers). Advanced knowledge in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and their use in cloud environments. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in cloud environments.,
