Job Description Automotive Electrical Design Engineer
Experience in the Automotive Domain, worked on OEM programs in electrical component design, with a strong understanding of HV/LV vehicle electrical and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Create and refine designs for high-voltage components, including power converters, cables, busbars, connectors, and harness assemblies.
- Develop mounting solutions, enclosures, grommets, brackets, and related components to support design and packaging requirements.
- Utilize CATIA (2D & 3D) for electrical and mechanical design, wiring harness routing, and packaging studies within vehicle platforms.
- Ensure designs meet vibration, thermal, and structural requirements, considering durability and safety standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering) for seamless integration of HV/LV systems in OEM vehicle platforms.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, wiring diagrams, and test reports.
- Support prototype builds and validation activities by troubleshooting electrical design issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Knowledge of industry standards (ISO, JIS, OEM-specific guidelines) for high-voltage and safety compliance.
- Work with suppliers for component selection, feasibility studies, and cost optimization.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in CATIA (Electrical & Mechanical design modules).
- Strong understanding of HV vehicle electrical systems, component packaging, and safety norms.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and 3D harness layouts.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturability and serviceability in automotive applications.
- Good communication and coordination skills to work with global teams.
- Japanese language proficiency JLPT N3 (minimum) or equivalent communication level to collaborate with Japanese OEMs and suppliers
