Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Backend Developer with strong expertise in Node.js to lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable server-side applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting solutions, mentoring junior developers, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, high-performance software solutions. This role requires a proactive leader who is hands-on with coding, passionate about technology, and capable of driving backend initiatives from conception to deployment.
Role & responsibilities
Architect and design scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend systems and services. Define the technical roadmap and best practices for backend development.
Mentor and guide junior developers, conduct thorough code reviews, and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
Develop and maintain server-side applications using Node.js.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs to support front-end functionality with a focus on performance and responsiveness.
- Write clean, modular, and efficient code adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, designers, and other team members to integrate user facing elements with server-side logic.
- Develop unit test cases to ensure the robustness and reliability of applications.
- Work with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MSSQL to design, implement, and optimize database queries.
- Debug and troubleshoot existing code to resolve issues and enhance functionality.
- Utilize cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS for application deployment and maintenance.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve skills and deliver state-of-the-art solutions.
Preferred candidate profile
Minimum 7+ years of experience in backend development, with at least 1 year in a lead or senior role.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js frameworks (e.g., Express, Koa).
Experience in writing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services. Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL) and writing optimized queries.
Experience with unit testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Mocha, Chai, Jest). Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Understanding of asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
